About Us

The Immediate Gratification Players are Harvard University’s premier long-form improvisational comedy troupe. We have been performing free on-campus shows since the fall of 1986, including an annual festival that attracts college and professional  troupes from across the country. IGP has also taken its improv on the road, traveling to such places as Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Nebraska, London, Sweden, Iceland, and the Bay Area.

IGP performs on Harvard's campus every few weeks, with special shows both on campus and around the country every few months. Our bread and butter is our montage format, where we perform around 45 minutes of 'prov by weaving together different games, storylines, and characters, all based off of one word.

Check out our calendar above for more info about upcoming shows! Our on-campus shows are always free, but we've started filling up and 'selling' out, so be sure to check back often!

IGP also performs several special shows throughout the year. We put on a special Murder Mystery Show for Halloween, a Player of the Year Show where we honor a famous comedian, and our annual LaughRiot Festival, which features troupes from colleges across the nation, as well as professional troupes from UCB and Second City.

As with all improv, our live shows are the best way to experience what we do! That being said, sometimes we get caught on camera, so click below for photos and videos!

Player of the Year

In 2010, IGP began honoring great comedians as their Player of the Year (POTY). The award is not strictly annual, founded by Scott Levin-Gesundheit ’10 with the intent that group hopes “to give this award as much as possible, devaluing it to the point where it basically means nothing." The POTY performs in a show with the troupe and receives the signature yellow-and-red tie.
